The Quarantine Cure

QUARANTINECURE

Today is day 76 from the time our government imposed a community quarantine. This has been the longest time in my life that I am staying at home. There are good days and there are days that I struggle really hard. Nonetheless, I make sure to find ways to keep myself occupied and keep my sanity intact despite the pandemic situation. Here are some of the things that are keeping me occupied lately. 💆🏻‍♀️🤗

I got this idea from my friend when she talked about The Quarantine Cure in one of our meetings at work. This idea originally came from The January Cure in which it has helpful tips on life and space organization as you welcome the new year.

Cooking

This quarantine truly forced everyone to learn how to cook including myself. 🙋‍♀️🤣 I’m not complaining and to be honest I actually find joy in cooking these days. Among the things that I enjoy cooking are pasta and vegetables dishes. I get compliments from my family that my cooking has drastically improved. Heh. 😛

Coffee Time

Food deliveries were limited on the first few weeks of the quarantine so I decided to be creative on how I drink my coffee. ☕ Here are some simple coffee drink recipes that I came up with:

  • Iced Cafe Latte with chia seeds and muscovado as sugar substitute
  • Kori Kohi (coffee ice cubes and warm milk)
  • Iced Americano with chia seeds

Unfortunately I failed on the dalgona coffee challenge so I won’t post it here. 🙈

PopSugar Fitness

I’ll be honest to say that I’m challenged to do workouts especially that I live in a very small space. I miss going to indoor cycling classes but thank God there is PopSugar Fitness. They have lots of work out videos on YouTube and I really appreciate that they have beginner video clips and even ways on how you can modify your movement.

I use a yoga mat that I bought in Lazada and I’m all set! I’m happy that I get to wear my workout clothes again. 🏋️

Guided Mediation

Even before the quarantine I use Calm and Headspace on days that I want to breathe, space out, and relax. Now more than ever I highly recommend guided meditation to folks who need help and support to keep themselves grounded on these trying times. I use these apps to help me sleep at night or even in the morning when I need to clear my head before I start to work.

Ben Gibbard Live from Home

I’m a huge fan of Death Cab for Cutie and I super love Ben Gibbard for doing Live from Home sessions. He’s been playing since March and he takes in requests from his fans. He even does cover songs too! His cover of Do you Realize? by The Flaming Lips is so hauntingly beautiful.

Reading

Aside from watching random TV series and movies on Netflix and HBO GO, I make sure that I squeeze in some reading in between my activities. I’m currently reading Attachments by Rainbow Rowell. I like that its a light story and its very relatable.

I’ve been curating a Spotify playlist to share my feels and mood during this quarantine. Its a mix of indie, pop, and old music.

Vox

Lately I’m also into short clip documentaries from Vox. Their Youtube channel content is so informative and interesting. If you enjoy the Netflix show Explained, then you’ll definitely find these videos interesting:
