[Beauty] The Year I Did Crazy Things on My Hair

Let me share with you last year’s story of my hair. 😛

If you follow me on Instagram, you’d see that I did a couple of hair style change in 2017. To be honest, it was my first time to have a drastic hair change in a year. 😱 Allow me to share with you the chronological hair styles that I sported last year and at the same time I’ll share you some helpful tips on how I give extra love and care on my hair. 😍

January 2017, Blonde Ambition

I wanted something new on the start of 2017 so I decided to bleach my hair. 😛 After chopping off my hair, I asked my boyfriend to help me out on bleaching my hair. I used the Palty Hair Bleach dye that I bought from my Tokyo trip in 2016.

Maintaining a blonde (plus short) hair style wasn’t easy. I remember I was religiously washing my hair every other day and I use dry shampoo on days that I am not allowed to wash my hair. And to make it more challenging, I made sure to wash my before going to sleep so that I can achieve natural curls and waves on my hair. 😫

But as what they say, you gotta make it work to keep your mane purrfect (or so I said so!) 😛

April 2017, Giving Ash Brown a Try

After 3+ months of sporting a blonde hair, I thought of going back to a darker hair color but not necessarily going back to my natural black hair color. Ash brown hair color was a big thing last year, so I thought I’d give it a try and see if it will suit me. 😜

I remember using Beauty Labo Hair Color in Creamy Ash so that I can achieve this hair color. I bought 2 boxes in Watsons so that my ever reliable boyfriend can dye my hair. LOL. 😄

This hair color didn’t last long and it faded easily because I frequently wash my hair and the product itself isn’t that reliable. This hair color lasted for 1-2 months tops.

September 2017, Raspberry Pink Dreams

The challenge with bleached and DIY hair color is that the dye easily washes off and your hair turns brassy or rusty. Last September I’ve decided to try Raspberry Pink from Beauty Labo to add a pop of color in my hair.

This also didn’t last long. After 2 weeks my hair went back to rusty orange. Ha! 😛

November 2017, Red as Catsup!

When November came in I’ve made a crazy decision to dye my hair in bright red. At that time I wasn’t in the mood to dye my hair in normal shade: browns or any darker hair color. So when I asked my stylist to dye my hair in red, I remember his surprised reaction and he even teased that my hair looks like catsup (ketchup)! 😛🍅

Among all the hair colors that I had last year, this was the most difficult one because the color bleeds every time I was my hair. I was only able to maintain this hair color for less than 2 months.

How do I take care of my colored hair?

I must say that maintaining a colored hair really takes a lot of effort. Nobody said it was easy but good thing there’s internet and hair products that you can use. Ha! Here are some tips that I learned from last year when it comes to taking care of my hair:

  1. Alternate washing is the key. If you’re the type who likes to wash your hair everyday, then be prepared to accept that your hair color will fade easily. I’ve learned from other girls that they wash their hair every other day to keep the color vibrant and long lasting. A solution to alternate washing is the use of dry shampoos. I recommend Dove Hair Therapy Refresh+Care and Human Heart Nature Conditioning Hair Mist. Dry shampoos remove excess and unwanted oil in the hair and they make your hair smell fresh just like out of the shower smell!
  2. Keep off the brass. Bleached hair has the tendency to look brassy and rusty. Make sure to use purple shampoo to equalize the color of your bleached hair. Plus, purple shampoos have no sulfate ingredient which is good for colored hair. I recommend Beach Born Classy Not Brassy Shampoo. They also have the purple conditioner too!
  3. Moisturize. Moisturize. Moisturize. Admittedly, hair coloring instantly damages your hair. In fact, it has the tendency to suck all the moisture in your hair. The ultimate solution to it is to frequently moisturize your hair using conditioner and serum. My favorites are the Watsons hair treatment tubs that are only PhP 199 (most of the time they are on buy 1 take 1 promo) and the Human Heart Nature Smoothing Hair Serum. Using these products will give you extra TLC that your hair badly needs.

And that’s it for this post! I hope you enjoyed my chronological hair story in 2017. Do let me know in the comments below about your hair stories and tips! Until then xoxo
